About

Golden Gate Park

I have this dream of retiring to a lavender farm in the south of France and running slow-motion through the fields wearing long, flowy dresses while my own personal trip hop soundtrack plays in the background. That’s pretty awesome, right?

Lauren Wheeler is a writer of poetry and short fiction. A recovering slam poet, she twice competed at the National Poetry Slam and has featured at Cornell University, where she studied English Literature, as well as in Los Angeles, Miami, and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work has appeared in Lodestar Quarterly, Other Magazine, 365 tomorrows, and Spindle Magazine.

Lauren lives in Oakland, California with a cranky orange cat named Ella and an anxiety-ridden pit bull called Java the Mutt. After several years in the video game industry, she now splits her work time between the tech industry and non-profits. In her off hours, she is a go-go dancer and performer at various goth, rock, and burlesque shows including MEAT, Pop Roxx, and Hubba Hubba Revue and maintains a well-trafficked but more personal blog over at LiveJournal.
